SHORT STORY ON ANTIMATTER

Could we ever get all the antimatter we need to generate power? One popular idea is to develop it in factories.

The downside is that we currently produce little precious antimatter. All the antiprotons CERN cranks out in a year would barely be enough to provide three seconds of electric lighting. Yet, according to the Journal of Propulsion and Power, a mere millionth of a gram would be enough to power a one-year flight to Mars.

There's no way of reaching vast antimatter deposits near the center of the galaxy, so we can't mine antimatter -- or can we? Antimatter-creating solar flares just might do the trick. One NASA-funded plan called for the use of giant wire spheres to harvest these particles as they reach Earth's orbit; a positively charged wire would attract negatively charged antiprotons, while repelling any pesky protons that would annihilate the antimatter stash.

The basic premise is that nearing the point of death, you actually never die and the brain gushes with glutamate, as it did once before, during birth, and you re-live your current life again in a virtual reality generated by the brain (or something else) - a Groundhog Day existence, so to speak. This is due to the fact that time dilates and you literally enter a time-less state or at least a state where time is near endless. This is alluded to by the way your perception of time changes dramatically throughout your life for one reason or another - dreaming, playing, getting bored, endangered, excited, sad and so on. Dropping out of time is what Peake calls it.

Some New Kind of Slaughter is not an ultra-violent horror comic. Just thought I’d open with that, you know, just to get it out of the way. No, it’s actually a very intelligent collection and retelling of several flood myths from around the world.

Some New Kind of Slaughter is something special. It may not be right for everyone, but for those who apperciate a smart and meaningful comic every once and a while, this is a great comic. Honestly, if I hadn’t received a copy from mpMann himself, I probably wouldn’t have ever seen this. I’m glad I got a chance to read it. I would highly recommend Some New Kind of Slaughter to anyone; whether or not they listen is up to them.

Watching the Wrestler

- can´t but admire Aronofsky´s vision, poetry and subtlety.

- the use of images - in the start. rourke in the car. he´s dozing off. dozing off. dozing off. click he´s not dozing off. done with a cut, not as one image. usage for other media? yes of course.

- there´s NOTHING that does not need to be here.

- when Aronofsky´s doing the subject, the research he went into is imminent - little beautiful details, like the injuries of the old wrestlers when on the signing, make it all so understandable. so does the fact that he treats the main protagonist, as well as any other, with empathy - rourke is playing a man who isn´t really very culturally smart, yet he´s trying his best to be a good man. aronofsky does not cover anything - he shows every stain, even minor ´flaws´ like Ram´s solarium attendance or not knowing call of duty 4, all of whom make him more human. he´s a flawed human being, trying to understand and do well. empathy.

- use of light : another thing I have to focus more in comics, the same goes with talking about the places, the atmosphere needs to be there, the feeling, all of it, yet things left to be played with.

- he beautifully uses shortcut - when he goes to show the stripper character, we don´t need more than watching her get turned off three times to understand how she´s feeling, nothing more, one minute of a movie and it´s done gracefully

- what emerges from this, among other things, is the fact that I might someday get back to the short story that I wrote and rewrite it as a short novel.
