Graha (from Sanskrit ग्रह gráha -- seizing, laying hold of, holding[1]) is a 'cosmic influencer' on the living beings of mother Bhumidevi (earth). In Hindu Astrology, the Navagraha (Sanskrit: नवग्रह, nine planets or nine realms) are some of these major influencers.

Dreaming and Meditation and Black Holes.

Had great deal of cinematic dreams tonight.
Cars struck, total traffic jam on the road to nowhere, people obviously running from something. Hear someone screaming. People running. Ha, people quite similar to infected from 28 days later. Thank you Alex. They come and catch you and jam black matter from their heads down your throat and then you turn. Come night, there is huuuuuuuuge black hole opened right above us. We watch it, fascinated. There´re more, they come and go, stars are quivering like their permanency now entered a 5-min-to-stay level.

Found out that I can change my dream by simply thinking it, suppose I´m entering lucidity a little bit. Woke up, thought, dreamed again, differently, all in five seconds.

Suppose it has something to do with meditation, which I got quite used to lately.

Have a nice day, you furry bastards you.

Love you

A.

Terrorism Fear Could Create Psychosomatic Epidemic, Feds Warn

Americans' fear of a terrorism could create a mass outbreak of a psychosomatic illness -- even in the absence of any real attack -- -- creating a fake epidemic that could overwhelm hospitals attempting to treat real victims.

It's interesting to me how we defang our nightmares -- by mocking them, but also by wearing their skins.

Thiel and Company. Who owns Facebook?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2008/jan/14/facebook

Thiel's philosophical mentor is one René Girard of Stanford University, proponent of a theory of human behaviour called mimetic desire. Girard reckons that people are essentially sheep-like and will copy one another without much reflection. The theory would also seem to be proved correct in the case of Thiel's virtual worlds: the desired object is irrelevant; all you need to know is that human beings will tend to move in flocks. Hence financial bubbles. Hence the enormous popularity of Facebook. Girard is a regular at Thiel's intellectual soirees. What you don't hear about in Thiel's philosophy, by the way, are old-fashioned real-world concepts such as art, beauty, love, pleasure and truth.

The internet is immensely appealing to neocons such as Thiel because it promises a certain sort of freedom in human relations and in business, freedom from pesky national laws, national boundaries and suchlike. The internet opens up a world of free trade and laissez-faire expansion. Thiel also seems to approve of offshore tax havens, and claims that 40% of the world's wealth resides in places such as Vanuatu, the Cayman Islands, Monaco and Barbados. I think it's fair to say that Thiel, like Rupert Murdoch, is against tax. He also likes the globalisation of digital culture because it makes the banking overlords hard to attack: "You can't have a workers' revolution to take over a bank if the bank is in Vanuatu," he says.

If life in the past was nasty, brutish and short, then in the future Thiel wants to make it much longer, and to this end he has also invested in a firm that is exploring life-extension technologies. He has pledged £3.5m to a Cambridge-based gerontologist called Aubrey de Grey, who is searching for the key to immortality. Thiel is also on the board of advisers of something called the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence. From its fantastical website, the following: "The Singularity is the technological creation of smarter-than-human intelligence. There are several technologies ... heading in this direction ... Artificial Intelligence ... direct brain-computer interfaces ... genetic engineering ... different technologies which, if they reached a threshold level of sophistication, would enable the creation of smarter-than-human intelligence."

So by his own admission, Thiel is trying to destroy the real world, which he also calls "nature", and install a virtual world in its place, and it is in this context that we must view the rise of Facebook. Facebook is a deliberate experiment in global manipulation, and Thiel is a bright young thing in the neoconservative pantheon, with a penchant for far-out techno-utopian fantasies. Not someone I want to help get any richer.

Roger Ebert: I like

From Roger's review of Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo (0 stars): "The movie created a spot of controversy in February 2005. According to a story by Larry Carroll of MTV News, Rob Schneider took offense when Patrick Goldstein of the Los Angeles Times listed this year's Best Picture nominees and wrote that they were 'ignored, unloved, and turned down flat by most of the same studios that . . . bankroll hundreds of sequels, including a follow-up to Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, a film that was sadly overlooked at Oscar time because apparently nobody had the foresight to invent a category for Best Running Penis Joke Delivered by a Third-Rate Comic.'

"Schneider retaliated by attacking Goldstein in full-page ads in Daily Variety and the Hollywood Reporter. In an open letter to Goldstein, Schneider wrote: 'Well, Mr. Goldstein, I decided to do some research to find out what awards you have won. I went online and found that you have won nothing. Absolutely nothing. No journalistic awards of any kind. . . . Maybe you didn't win a Pulitzer Prize because they haven't invented a category for Best Third-Rate, Unfunny Pompous Reporter Who's Never Been Acknowledged by His Peers. . . .'

"Schneider was nominated for a 2000 Razzie Award for Worst Supporting Actor, but lost to Jar-Jar Binks."

Steam Devils

http://mysterytopia.com/2008/09/steam-devils.html

Steam devil season is underway. In late summer-early fall when waters are still warm but morning air is growing cold, little tornadoes of steam are often seen dancing across lake surfaces.

Iowa photographer Mike Hollingshead caught this one at sunrise on August 29th.

Steam devils appear when vapor released by a warm lake condenses rapidly in cooler air above. Light winds spin condensing plumes of steam into dancing columns. The bigger the lake, the bigger the devils.

Steam devils on Lake Superior have been observed to rise 1500 ft tall!

..and his words echoed in my mind,

"To be
the eyes

of the Creator of the Universe,
you fool."

and I´ve done everything all the time, all the passing illusion swept away.

Those were just two beers, and Rousseau´s social contractions have already started.
I felt wonderfully ill.
Old Murder crawled it´s way from the void underneath cupboard, purred and done stuff against my leg once again.
I am merciful. I am nothing. I am pretentious.

All that happenned, in the end, was the fact that there was no end,
since the wheel kept on turning, since we began to come back to it after understanding that this is the purpose of love.

She cried a little. Relief.

I went as far as I could.

FLIPPER GOES AWOL

DOLPHIN ATTACKS. I choose to give you the best of this thread.

"Never trust an animal that smiles all the time." -Terry Pratchett, referring to dolphins.

Connor soon realised that these male gangs were after just one thing: sex. A trio-let's call them the Sharks-will kidnap a sexually receptive female from her normal group and hold her prisoner for a month or more. There is no gentle courtship. Instead the Sharks herd their trophy around, using brute force including thumping and biting to keep her moving where they want. Meanwhile they mate with her, either one at a time or sometimes simultaneously.

God I want to eat dolphin.

A marine biologist friend of mine once called dolphins the assholes of the sea. No one ever believes me. If the cannibal squid, death snakes, or fucking goblin sharks don't get you, the rape dolphins will.

As Terry Pratchett also points out - we know dolphins are intelligent because when they attack humans they make sure they never leave any survivors.

There was a protest outside my workplace yesterday against Japan killing dolphins. I wanted to make a quick sign that said "rapists of the ocean," but my lunch break was over.

...is there a species of animal that doesn't rape? Because, ever since I was six and discovery channel had fruit bat rape, I just assumed that this was standard in kingdom animalia. The gay rapist necrophiliac duck thing just confirmed it for me, really.

On a weird note...monkeys aren't much better. The fam and I went to the zoo and, swear to God, watched a chimp wrestle the head off a dead bird and fuck the neckhole. Should've taken video, I know.

Hanuka comes early this year.

Asaf Hanuka. Brother of Tomer Hanuka. Both incredibly talented and worth taking a look at. Tomer Hanuka´s ´The Placebo Man´ is recommended. By the way, it´s funny.
They´re from Israel.
